Giannis Antetokounmpo is thrilled to kick off the 2025-26 NBA Regular Season, particularly as the Milwaukee Bucks prepare to welcome back his longtime teammate Khris Middleton to begin an extensive 82-game schedule on Wednesday.
“First and foremost, he deserves the warmest reception imaginable,” the Greek Freak stated during a media session following the Bucks’ annual open practice at Fiserv Forum on Sunday. This remark came in response to a question regarding 34-year-old Middleton, who has been his partner for the past 12 years, including their championship victory during the 2020-21 season. “When he enters the arena and watches his tribute video, it should be an emotional moment for him before the game.”
“I can’t fully convey how much Khris means to this team, nor how significant he is to me,” the 30-year-old point forward continued. “I’ve had the chance to compete against him once on the USA team and another time last year. It’s always enjoyable. He’s my guy. He’s like a brother to me for life. We’ve accomplished amazing things together. I can’t wait to see him get emotional on Wednesday.”
Reflecting on his 13th season with the Bucks, Giannis shared his thoughts on how Doc Rivers’ coaching can propel the team from the Regular Season into the Playoffs.
“We might not be the frontrunners, but we’re definitely going to be a challenge. We’re going to be a threat,” he remarked. “The team’s composition is exceptionally dangerous. We have plenty of shooting, numerous playmakers and ball handlers, and a solid defensive unit. We’re capable of switching effectively, and we possess an outstanding big man who can stretch the floor and disrupt opponents defensively.”
“We’re built precisely to make a significant impact,” he emphasized. “Our immediate focus is on Wednesday. After that, we need to stay healthy and work towards making it to the Playoffs, aiming to win a Playoff series.”
