The San Antonio Spurs triumphed over the New Orleans Pelicans, 120-116, after an intense overtime session on Friday night.
In a visit to the Smoothie King Center, Victor Wembanyama notched a double-double with 29 points and 11 rebounds, and also recorded nine blocks, two assists, and one steal. His final block was crucial, igniting a strong start for the additional period. This impressive performance came after he missed a shot against Zion Williamson at the close of regulation, helping his team improve to 2-0 in the 2025-26 NBA Regular Season.
“I really enjoyed it once it was over; it was quite stressful,” Wembanyama said at the postgame press conference.
Polish teammate Jeremy Sochan (left wrist sprain) was sidelined, as was Croatian player Karlo Matkovic (low back spasms) for the home team.
With just 5.2 seconds remaining, Domantas Sabonis executed a 2+1 play, followed by a defensive stop from Dennis Schroder, propelling the Sacramento Kings to a narrow 105-104 victory over the Utah Jazz at Golden 1 Center. After missing the first game of the season due to a right hamstring strain, the Lithuanian star made a solid comeback with a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds. Schroder contributed 17 points, while Croatian Dario Saric added five points off the bench; however, French player Maxime Raynaud did not see any action. On the losing side, Finnish player Lauri Markkanen had a standout performance with a game-high 33 points, shooting 12-of-23 from the field, including 4-of-13 from three-point range. Starting alongside him, Ukrainian Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk chipped in nine points, and Bosnian reserve Jusuf Nurkic tallied four points along with 11 rebounds.
In American Airlines Center, Swiss player Kyshawn George delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 34 points on 11-of-15 shooting with seven three-pointers and adding 11 rebounds for a double-double, leading the Washington Wizards to a victory over the Dallas Mavericks, 117-107. Fellow starter French Alex Sarr contributed 14 points, while Serbian Tristan Vukcevic scored two points. French player Bilal Coulibaly (right hand surgery) remained on the injury list.
Israeli Deni Avdija led his team with 26 points, while Belgian Toumani Camara added 19 more as the Portland Trail Blazers triumphed over the Golden State Warriors, 139-119, in the Moda Center. French player Rayan Rupert logged 3:43 with one rebound and one assist; however, fellow French player Sidy Cissoko was inactive. For the Warriors, Dutch player Quinten Post started and scored five points.
Serbian Nikola Jovic scored 20 points, with Italian Simone Fontecchio contributing 14 points to help the Miami Heat achieve a commanding 146-114 win against the Memphis Grizzlies at FedEx Forum. Swedish Pelle Larsson added eight points, but both Russian Vladislav Goldin and Lithuanian Kasparas Jakucionis (right groin strain) were unable to play. Spanish Santi Aldama scored 13 points for the Grizzlies.
In Toyota Center, the Detroit Pistons defeated the Houston Rockets 115-111, despite Kevin Durant’s 37-point effort. Turkish player Alperen Sengun finished with 17 points, seven assists, seven rebounds, and three steals. Swiss reserve Clint Capela played only four minutes and scored two points, while Swedish player Bobi Klintman did not see any court time.
At the Intuit Dome, the Los Angeles Clippers secured a victory against the Phoenix Suns with a score of 129-102.
