The Lakers have finally hired ESPN analyst and 14 year NBA veteran JJ Reddick to be the next head coach in Los Angeles.

This is somewhat expected as the word around the NBA has been pretty strong, dating back to the combine in the middle of May that JJ was the top choice of the Lakers front office and they have kind of been enamored by him as some form of Pat Riley 2.0 pulling a veteran, not a champion but a playoff experienced player who had a very, very successful year and, and overall transition into the media and an appetite for coaching Reddick, of course, has his own podcast.

He was the analyst on ESPN S booth throughout the finals on ABC alongside Mike Breen and Doris Burke and perhaps most importantly, had a podcast that he co-hosted called Mind The Game with none other than lebron James.

So after a Hail Mary offer to Dan Hurley, the two time reigning NCAA champion head coach of the uconn Huskies, JJ Redick is the man in Los Angeles.

The questions will be abundant from here though he has never coached at a level above his son’s youth.

Ball.

He has interviewed in multiple positions before for Toronto’s head job last year.

He was a candidate for Charlotte as recently as this off-season.

But this is a guy who has never been at this stage of a coaching career and there’s plenty to be learned, not just on the white board that he uses on mind the game or the attention to detail that he has brought as a podcaster and analyst.

There is a whole 360 degree slate of responsibilities from managing personalities inside a locker room, not just on a roster but on a staff as well.
