Following a deal with Portland, the Knicks selected Marquette guard Tyler Kolek with the No. 34 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Knicks are sending three second-round picks to the Trail Blazers for the No. 34 pick.
Additionally, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the Knicks have traded the No. 38 pick (Ajay Mitchell) to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for cash and the No. 40 pick.
Kolek, a true point guard listed at 6-foot-2, 197 pounds, was considered a first-round pick by many draft experts but fell into the early second round. Known as perhaps the best passer in this year’s draft class, Kolek averaged 15.3 points, 7.7 assists, and 4.9 rebounds for the Golden Eagles last season. He also shot 38.8 percent from three-point range.
Leon Rose and the Knicks did some wheeling and dealing during the first round of the draft, selecting forward Pacome Dadiet with the 25th overall pick.
They also picked up the No. 51 pick in this year’s draft, which previously belonged to the Washington Wizards, along with other future picks, adding a total of five second-round picks on the night. Three of those second-rounders were reportedly used in the deal to land Kolek.
