8 center targets Thunder must pursue during NBA Offseason

The final center on this list is former All-Star big, 2021 NBA champion, and the all-time leading scorer in Brooklyn Nets history, Brook Lopez.

The veteran has spent the last six seasons manning the middle for the Milwaukee Bucks. He’s made two All-Defensive teams during his tenure in Milwaukee and even finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2023.

Following a very lackluster season the Bucks now are reported to be interested in making some moves to ensure their championship window doesn’t close.

A quality three-point shooter, Lopez shot the ball at a 36.6 percent clip from distance last season. The Thunder have some of the best spacing in the NBA, so bringing on a center like Lopez, or, as fans call him, “Splash Mountain,” could make a lot of sense.

He is a solid player on both sides of the ball and with two years left on his contract, now could be the perfect time for the Thunder to bring the 36-year-old to Oklahoma City.

A move for Lopez would cement the Thunder’s plan to play win-now basketball and that is definitely something he knows how to do.

Lopez played a crucial role defending the rim during the Bucks run to the 2021 NBA championship.

We can do nothing but wait and see what the Thunder decide to do this offseason, but one thing is for certain: If they want to have a real shot at capturing the Larry O’Brien trophy next year, they need to bring in their championship center.
