HOUSTON (AP)—During a game on Wednesday night, Houston’s Steven Adams and Phoenix’s Mason Plumlee faced ejection after a skirmish in which Adams brought Plumlee down to the court in the second quarter.

The altercation began when both players became entangled while vying for a rebound with about three minutes remaining in the first half. As they disengaged from the basket, Adams, who was facing Plumlee, hoisted him off his feet before bringing him down to the floor.

Plumlee landed on top of Adams, and the two continued to grapple while still on the ground, prompting players and officials from both teams to rush in to break up the tussle.

They were quickly separated, but shortly afterward, Plumlee was seen with a cut on his forehead just above his right eye from the confrontation.

Following a review of the incident, both players received double technical fouls and were subsequently ejected from the game.
