The Minnesota Timberwolves triumphed over the Denver Nuggets, securing a 115-95 victory at Ball Arena.
This win marked the Wolves’ fifth consecutive triumph over the Nuggets, extending their streak from the 2024 NBA Playoffs presented by Google Pixel into the 2024-25 Regular Season.
In a postgame press conference, Nikola Jokic remarked, “We need to improve. I’m not sure what it is, but it feels like we’re not performing well against them, or they’re just not allowing us to play well.”
Stressing the importance of victory, he added, “I aim to win every game, and losing is never easy to accept. When a team beats you repeatedly, it’s something you need to analyze and reflect upon.”
Despite playing through a right elbow contusion and a left ankle impingement, the Serbian star contributed significantly with 34 points on 13 of 23 shooting, including two three-pointers, alongside eight rebounds, four assists, and a steal during his 38 minutes on the court.
Jokic also acknowledged the Timberwolves’ defensive play, stating, “They’re very focused on the game. They understand their objectives clearly.”
On the winning side, French center Rudy Gobert returned to action following a maintenance regimen for a low back injury, delivering a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. In over 30 minutes, he also recorded three assists and one block.
With a comfortable lead for head coach Chris Finch’s team, Bosnian Luka Garza logged nearly five minutes of garbage time in the final quarter, contributing five points and two rebounds. Meanwhile, Dutch player Jesse Edwards was assigned to the G League affiliate, Iowa Wolves.
For the Nuggets, Slovenian Vlatko Cancar played five minutes in the fourth quarter, gathering two rebounds. Croatian Dario Saric did not leave the bench for head coach Michael Malone’s squad.
