SAN ANTONIO (AP)— Guard De’Aaron Fox of the San Antonio Spurs will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a finger injury.
The Spurs announced that Fox will undergo surgery on Tuesday to fix a tendon in his left hand.
The injury occurred during the training camp in October when he was still part of the Sacramento Kings. He was traded to the Spurs on February 3, where he contributed with averages of 19.7 points, 6.8 assists, and 4.3 rebounds across 17 games.
His most impressive performance with the Spurs came on Wednesday, where he scored 32 points, distributed 11 assists, and grabbed nine rebounds in a 126-116 win against the Dallas Mavericks.
The organization is optimistic about his recovery and expects him to be ready for the beginning of the next season.
In the 2022-23 season, Fox earned All-Star honors and was named to the All-NBA third team while playing for the Kings. During the subsequent season with the Kings, he averaged a personal best of 26.6 points per game and topped the league in steals.
