After missing Game 1 due to illness, Kristaps Porzingis has been deemed probable for Game 2 against the New York Knicks.
Facing a 1-0 deficit in the Eastern Conference Semifinals of the 2025 NBA Playoffs presented by Google, the Boston Celtics are looking for the 29-year-old Latvian forward/center to participate in Wednesday’s game at TD Garden.
Throughout his playoff career, Porzingis has not played more than seven games in a single postseason, which includes last year’s championship journey with the Celtics. He has faced several challenges that have hindered his availability. In the current 2025 Playoffs, he has taken the court six times under Joe Mazzulla’s leadership, averaging 10.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 assists each game.
Entering his second season in Boston during the 2024-25 Regular Season, the Liepaja native, selected by the Knicks with the fourth overall pick in 2015, has started in all 42 games, accumulating averages of 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
His impact on both offense and defense was crucial, especially after leaving the game prematurely, which coincided with a home loss to the Knicks at the start of the series. Fortunately, his condition has been reported to have improved, according to the latest update from the Celtics.
On the other hand, Sam Hauser has been listed as doubtful for Game 2 due to a right ankle sprain.
Meanwhile, the Knicks reported no injuries ahead of the second matchup of the best-of-seven series.
Game 3 is scheduled to take place at Madison Square Garden, part of the upcoming NBA Saturday events.
Stay tuned for the latest news.
