Former Boston Celtics power forward Guerschon Yabusele made his return to the NBA last summer after a year in China and four years competing in Europe with ASVEL and Real Madrid.
He signed with the Philadelphia 76ers and made a notable impact in his comeback season, seemingly solidifying his position in the league and in the team’s future goals.
According to Marc Stein, the 76ers are looking to re-sign the French national player. It has been reported that one of the primary motivations behind the team’s cost-reducing strategies at the trade deadline was to create financial flexibility to keep the tough forward, who played this season on a veteran minimum contract.
Daryl Morey, the 76ers’ president of basketball operations, recently commented on the organization’s desire to retain Yabusele.
“He’s really embraced Philadelphia, which is wonderful to see. He will have plenty of excellent opportunities as he is highly regarded around the league. So we hope he recognizes his importance to both us and the Philadelphia fans,” Morey stated on The Rights To Ricky Sanchez: The Sixers Podcast.
Over the course of 70 regular season games, Yabusele averaged 11 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game, while shooting 38% from beyond the arc.
