Headline: Warriors Face Must-Win Game 5 Against Timberwolves Without Star Point Guard Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry has been officially ruled out for Game 5 between the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The seasoned point guard, aged 37, is recovering from a left hamstring strain and will miss his third consecutive game, having exited early in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals during the 2025 NBA Playoffs presented by Google.

With their backs against the wall at 3-1 and facing elimination, Coach Steve Kerr’s team will compete against the Timberwolves at Target Center without Curry. All remaining players from both teams are available for this matchup in the best-of-seven series.

The former star from Davidson, hailing from Akron, Ohio, has averaged 22.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game across eight playoff contests. In the 2024-25 Regular Season, he boasted averages of 24.5 points, 6.0 assists, 4.4 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 0.4 blocks in 70 games.

A Warriors victory on Wednesday would set up a Game 6 at San Francisco’s Chase Center during the next NBA Sunday. Securing consecutive wins could also lead to a Game 7 in Minneapolis next Tuesday. However, it’s uncertain if the four-time NBA champion will be medically cleared should his team stave off elimination.

In a different scenario, Jayson Tatum remains on the injury list for the Boston Celtics following surgery on his right Achilles tendon. Likewise, the defending champions find themselves trailing 3-1 against the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday at TD Garden.
