One of the prominent narratives of the offseason involves the recent revelation about Giannis Antetokounmpo, suggesting that the star player is poised to request a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks to a particular team.
As he prepares to meet with the front office, the 30-year-old point forward is expected to urge the Bucks to facilitate a move to his chosen destination, according to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, who spoke with various agents at the recent NBA combine in Chicago.
Reports indicate that Giannis is considering the possibility of leaving Milwaukee. Although his future remains clouded with speculation, it is still uncertain where he might end up and when he will engage in discussions with the Bucks about the organization’s trajectory. His primary focus, it seems, is to secure a genuine opportunity to compete for another NBA title, aiming to replicate the success he enjoyed in 2021.
His contract extends until the conclusion of the 2026-27 season, which includes a player option for the 2027-28 season. After the 2025-26 season, the Greek player will be eligible to negotiate a new four-year deal worth $293.4 million, either with the Bucks or with a new franchise.
During his 12th season with the Bucks, Giannis delivered impressive stats, averaging 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 0.9 steals per game over 67 games in the 2024-25 regular season. In the opening round of the 2025 playoffs against the Indiana Pacers, he elevated his performance, averaging 33.0 points, 15.4 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 1.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals per game.
