Headline: Micic Addresses Rumors: Focused on EuroBasket, Not Speculation About Future Teams

Vasilije Micic is currently in Abu Dhabi, reflecting on the Final Four of the 2024-25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, while also considering his club choices and beginning preparations for EuroBasket 2025.

There are circulating rumors about a potential connection to Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv, which is expected to make its debut in Europe’s top-tier club competition in the 2025-26 season.

“I am uncertain. The team has an option on my contract, which is a significant clause in the NBA. What I do know is that I want to play,” stated the 31-year-old Serbian point guard, regarding the Phoenix Suns holding an option for the 2025-26 season. “There are a lot of rumors, but I don’t focus on them. When my friends message me about them, I remind myself that if I haven’t signed anything, there’s nothing to discuss.”

“My contract is officially valid until June 30. Until then, it’s merely chatter. I don’t believe anything until I see something tangible,” he mentioned in a conversation with Serbian outlet Meridian Sport.

At the same time, he is concentrating on preparing to represent Serbia’s senior national team in the upcoming EuroBasket, following their bronze medal achievement at the 2024 Olympic Games.

“Absolutely, I’m eager to play,” he emphasized. “Last year was exceptional for us; you always want to participate. This year, we hope it can be even better. There’s always someone missing, but if everyone shows up, it will be amazing, and hopefully even more successful.”

After the Denver Nuggets’ exit from the 2025 NBA Playoffs presented by Google, Nikola Jokic has not yet confirmed his involvement in the summer international tournament.

“For years, he’s been the one to announce when he makes his choices,” Micic remarked. “I can’t speak on his behalf; he has his own perspective on life. But naturally, I would love for him to join us.”

Serbia is placed in Group A for the preliminary round, where they will compete against Estonia, Portugal, Latvia, Czechia, and Turkiye from August 27 to September 3 in Riga. The top four teams will remain in the Latvian capital and transition from pool play to single-elimination matches, with the knockout stages taking place from September 6 to 14.
