Karl-Anthony Towns delivered an impressive performance in his fourth season, scoring 20 of his 24 points in a thrilling comeback where New York triumphed 106-104 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals, despite trailing by 20 at one point.
“It really tests your mettle when you find yourself down by more than 20,” said Towns, who also contributed 15 rebounds to the effort. “Tonight demanded a relentless mindset.”
Although New York remains behind in the series 2-1, they managed to avoid falling into an 0-3 deficit, overcoming a rough start and Jalen Brunson’s foul difficulties.
British forward OG Anunoby chipped in with 16 points to help secure the victory.
On the other side, Tyrese Haliburton was the standout for the Pacers, scoring 20 points and dishing out six assists, while Myles Turner added 19 points. Indiana’s loss marked their 0-4 record when playing on the day of the Indianapolis 500.
