Headline: Rudy Gobert Dominates as Timberwolves Eliminate Lakers and Doncic in Playoff Thriller

Rudy Gobert delivered an impressive double-double that led the Minnesota Timberwolves to a decisive 103-96 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena, securing the series.

With this triumph on Wednesday, the Timberwolves concluded the Western Conference Quarterfinals best-of-seven match in just five games.

“It feels amazing,” Gobert said after notching a remarkable 27 points and grabbing 24 rebounds in Game 5. “We had a season filled with challenges. Playing the way we did tonight holds significant meaning for us.”

The 32-year-old French center shot 12 for 15 on two-point attempts and also contributed defensively with two blocks in 38 minutes of play.

“We have a group of players who are determined to win. Many of us have experienced significant challenges throughout our lives and careers. We really care for each other,” he continued during a postgame discussion.

“Throughout the series, I felt it was becoming increasingly difficult for them to keep me away from the rebounds,” Gobert shared in a postgame press conference, detailing his enhanced performance. “I sensed that there would come a moment when I might get some favorable bounces and perform better at finishing.”

When asked about potential revenge for last season’s elimination by Luka Doncic’s team in the Western Conference Finals, Gobert emphasized, “My motivation isn’t about defeating any individual; it’s about winning a championship. I still have work to do to achieve that.”

As for Luka Doncic, this might mark the end of his 2025 NBA Playoff run, although we can only hope it isn’t.

Earlier in the game, the Slovenian star had to briefly leave the court before halftime due to a back injury but managed to finish with 28 points, nine assists, seven rebounds, and one steal over 39 minutes.

After undergoing surgery on his right foot a few months prior, German player Maxi Kleber made his debut for the Lakers, scoring two points in almost five minutes of play. Ukrainian Alex Len remained on the bench without seeing action.
