During a recent segment on ESPN’s Inside the NBA, Charles Barkley shared his thoughts on the evolving circumstances between Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.
With the 30-year-old forward hinting that he might explore alternative options after the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, Barkley, a 62-year-old former player, criticized this mindset.
“As a top-tier player, you should be confident in your abilities and believe that with the right support, victory is attainable. The Milwaukee Bucks deserve recognition for their efforts. I wish someone cared about me as much as the Bucks care about Giannis. Honestly, it’s admirable. They brought in Dame Lillard and pursued Myles Turner. They have left no stone unturned in their quest to reclaim success. The idea that Giannis feels they aren’t doing enough is puzzling—truly, I wish someone would show me the level of commitment the Bucks have for Giannis. I mean it,” Barkley stated.
He went on to express concern about Giannis’ perspective, noting, “It’s unfortunate that he believes he should win a championship every single year. Everyone aspires for that, but the Bucks have made every effort conceivable. Hearing him think, ‘If we don’t win a title this year, I want to leave,’ is disheartening to me. I really dislike that sentiment.”
Giannis is set to embark on his 13th season in the NBA, remaining steadfast with the Bucks since they selected him as the 15th overall pick in the 2013 draft.
