During a recent segment on Inside the NBA on ESPN, Charles Barkley shared his perspective on the ongoing situation involving Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.
The 30-year-old forward has indicated that he might explore other opportunities after the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, a stance that the 62-year-old former NBA star criticized.
“As an elite player, your mindset should be, ‘I’m a great player. If I receive any support, we will win.’ You have to give credit to the Milwaukee Bucks. I wish someone cared for me as much as the Bucks care for Giannis. Seriously. They acquired Dame Lillard and Myles Turner for him. They have done everything they can to help the Bucks succeed again. So, the idea that he feels they aren’t committed? They have truly done everything. Honestly, I desire someone to show me as much love as the Bucks show Giannis. I mean it,” Barkley expressed.
He further remarked, “It’s regrettable that he feels entitled to championship victories each year. Everyone aspires to win the championship. However, the Bucks have exhausted every effort possible. Hearing him express, ‘If we don’t secure a championship this year, I want to leave,’ is disheartening to me. I really dislike hearing that.”
Giannis is set to begin his 13th season in the NBA, having remained dedicated to the Bucks since being selected as the 15th overall pick in the 2013 draft.
